Update: Suspect Arrested for Coin Store Burglary; Crime Solvers Tipster Helped Solve this Case

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District have arrested and charged Tony Arrington, age 49, of Washington, D.C., with the August 30, 2019, burglary of the Bonanza Coins store located in Silver Spring.

During the investigation, the Police Department released video surveillance and photographs of the suspect committing the burglary and asked for the public’s help in identifying him.  Investigators received a tip from the public which led to the identification of Arrington as the suspect.

A warrant was issued for Arrington’s arrest for second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, and theft.  (During the burglary, Arrington stole approximately $6,500 worth of coins and caused approximately $2,500 worth of damage to the business’ front door and a display case).

On November 21, Arrington was arrested in Washington, D.C., on unrelated criminal charges.  On November 26, he was extradited to Montgomery County on the strength of the Montgomery County criminal warrant.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that Arrington committed additional commercial burglaries in Montgomery County.
