December 6, 2019 – UPDATE:
Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have investigated the report of a sexual assault of a juvenile female that occurred in the Rockville area on October 31. At this time, detectives have determined that the sexual assault as first reported and described by the victim did not occur. The Department does not believe that there is any threat to public safety in regard to this reported sexual assault. No additional information will be released at this time
Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) continue to investigate the October 31 sexual assault of a juvenile female that occurred in the Rockville area. Today, investigators are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
The victim reported to detectives that at approximately 5:30 p.m. on October 31, she was walking between apartment buildings in the 9700 block of Key West Avenue when the suspect sexually assaulted her.
The suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 18 to 21 years of age and approximately 6-feet-tall. He was wearing a black beanie cap, a black and gray hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and dark-colored shoes. The suspect spoke with an African accent.
Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or who may have information about this sexual assault to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
