In order to be fingerprinted, you must:

  • Be a Montgomery County resident, work in the county, or be applying for a job in the county.  If you are a Montgomery County resident, you must have proof of residency either in the form of your driver’s license or Maryland ID card or a current utility bill, deed, or lease agreement.  If you do not live in the County, your employer must provide a letter on their letterhead displaying a Montgomery County address.  The letter must state that they require you to be fingerprinted for employment with their company.
  • Have a government issued picture identification card.  This includes a Maryland driver’s license or ID card or a government ID card (i.e. from the US Department of Justice or State Department).  A current military ID, along with a current utility bill, deed, or lease agreement, is also acceptable.
  • Be a student whose permanent residence is out-of-state.  You must bring your out-of-state driver’s license as well as your student ID.  Also required is proof of current Montgomery County residence in the form of a current utility bill, deed, lease agreement, bank statement, or pay stub.
  • Bring your fingerprint cards with you.  We do not provide fingerprint cards.  The cards are provided by the organization requesting that you be fingerprinted.  We will not provide FBI fingerprint cards as they must be pre-printed with information that we do not have.  If you have not been given cards by the organization requesting fingerprints, please contact the organization.

Please note that we do not fingerprint for ICE.  This is at the request of Immigration and Customs Enforcement which prefers to do its own fingerprinting.  If ICE has requested that you have a background check, please contact them at 1-800-375-5283 for further information.
