Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Section
The Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Section is responsible for investigating rape, sexual offenses, and physical and sexual abuse committed against children under the age of 18 by a suspect who cared for or had custody of the child.

Exploitation and Registry Section
The Exploitation and Registry Section is comprised of two units:
- The Child Exploitation Unit investigates crimes similar to the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Section when the crimes are committed by a stranger. Additionally, the Child Exploitation Unit is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which handles Internet-related child exploitation crimes. The unit also investigates tips originating from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.
- The Sex Offender Registry Unit is tasked with managing and enforcing the Sex Offender Registry for Montgomery County.
Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Section
The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Section investigates the crimes of rape, sexual assault, burglary, stalking, kidnapping, and first degree assault committed by and against domestic partners and all cases of elder abuse.

The Missing Children Section investigates all cases of runaway, missing, or abducted children.
