Police Continue to Investigate Serious Pedestrian Hit and Run Collision in Rockville

The Montgomery County Department of Police – 1st District Traffic Unit continues to investigate a serious pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred on July 3 in Rockville.  Officers are asking anyone with information about the striking vehicle to come forward to the Department.

On July 3 at approximately 6:26 a.m., officers responded to a pedestrian-involved collision on Twinbrook Parkway at Dowgate Court.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing northbound Twinbrook Parkway at Dowgate Court when he was struck by a vehicle.  The vehicle, described by a witness as a silver sedan, left the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as Jose Reyes Delcid, age 60, of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

1st District Traffic Unit officers are asking anyone who may have information about this collision or the striking vehicle to call them at 240-773-6070.

 

Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian-Involved Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious pedestrian-involved collision that occurred yesterday in a loading dock of an apartment building located in Rockville.

On Sunday, June 23, at approximately 1:39 p.m., 1st district officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a pedestrian-involved collision that had just occurred at 1101 Higgins Place.

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives revealed that an employee of a moving company, Malik Brooks, age 23, of Cross Ridge Way in Germantown, was backing a company moving truck into a loading dock of the building.  Another moving company employee, Anthony A. Liason, age 43, of Nutmeg Place in Germantown, was outside of the vehicle and was assisting the driver (Brooks) in backing the vehicle.  During this time, Liason became pinned between the truck and the side of the building.

Liason was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on March 4, 2019, in Silver Spring.

On March, 4, at approximately 3:43 p.m., officers from the 3rd District along with Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Cherry Hill Road and Prosperity Drive for the report of a personal injury collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Corolla, was attempting to turn left from northbound Cherry Hill Road on to Prosperity Drive, when for reasons still under investigation, it was struck by a 2003 Volvo XC90, which was traveling southbound on Cherry Hill Road.

The driver and passenger of the Toyota are identified as Regina Ablorh, age 50, and Augustina Okwadi, age 71, respectively, both of Beltsville.  Ablorh and Okwadi were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.  Augustina Okwadi succumbed to her injuries on April 27, 2019.

The driver of the Volvo is identified as Herbert Oswaldo Baires Chavez, age 25, of College Park.  Chavez was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Collision in Darnestown

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single-vehicle collision that occurred this morning in Darnestown.
On Saturday, April 20, 2019, at approximately 8:06 a.m. officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 1st District, and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the area of Darnestown Road and Riffleford Road for the report of a single-vehicle collision with the driver entrapped. After a prolonged extrication, the driver was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Lexus IS300 was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road approaching the intersection with Riffleford Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a metal traffic-light support pole on the driver’s side door. The driver remains in critical condition.

Detectives Investigate Serious Vehicle Collision Involving Two Pedestrians in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a personal injury collision that occurred last night in Rockville involving two pedestrians and a Rockville Volunteer Fire Department vehicle.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado assigned to the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, was traveling eastbound on Beall Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation,  it struck an adult male and adult female.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The man was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven by Diane Evans, age 59, of Rockville.  She was not injured in the collision.

All facts and circumstances regarding this incident are being investigated.  This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  If anyone witnessed the collision or has additional information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
