Update: Pedestrian-Involved Collision in White Oak Area Now Fatal

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal pedestrian-involved collision that occurred yesterday in the White Oak area.

The pedestrian, previously identified as 65-year-old David Rafael Velasquez of Silver Spring, succumbed to his injuries last night (Thursday, March 19) at an area hospital.

Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian-Involved Collision in White Oak Area

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious pedestrian-involved collision that occurred this afternoon in the White Oak area.

On Thursday, March 19, at approximately 12:26 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue and McCeney Avenue for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that a 2002 Toyota Camry was travelling south on New Hampshire Avenue and attempted to make a right turn onto McCeney Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota Camry left the roadway and struck a stop sign.  The Toyota continued travelling across the service road and onto the sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as 65-year-old David Rafael Velasquez of Silver Spring, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Camry, identified as Dasia Kierra Wood, age 17, of Upper Marlboro, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives Investigate Serious Collision in Layhill

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious collision that occurred early this morning in the Layhill.

This morning (Sunday, March 1) at approximately 1:11 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Norbeck Road and Layhill Road for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that a black 2016 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Layhill Road approaching Norbeck Road and a white 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Norbeck Road approaching Layhill road.  For reasons still under investigation, the Nissans collided in the intersection.

The driver of the 2015 Nissan Altima, 37-year-old Waqas Tahir Khan, of Fairmont Court in Woodbridge, Virginia, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  An adult female passenger in the 2015 Altima was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the 2016 Nissan Altima, 30-year-old Aaron Pugh of an unconfirmed address, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian-Involved Collision in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious pedestrian-involved collision that occurred last night in Gaithersburg.

On Friday, February 21, at approximately 9:19 p.m., 6th District officers, Gaithersburg Police Department officers, and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to South Frederick Avenue (MD – 355) at North Westland Drive for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross South Frederick Avenue in an easterly direction when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 that was travelling north on South Frederick Avenue.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz is identified as 32-year-old Mike Nam of Garden View Way in Rockville. Nam was not injured in the collision.

The pedestrian is identified as Douglas Ariel Perez Martinez, age 33, of Duvall Lane in Gaithersburg.  Martinez was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives Investigate Serious Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious collision that occurred yesterday evening in Rockville.

On Friday, January 24 at approximately 9:56 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City Police Department officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Frederick Road (Route 355) between Shady Grove Road and Redland Road for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that a 2013 Honda Fit was traveling southbound on Frederick Road when for reasons still under investigation, the Fit crossed the center median and struck a 2012 Honda Civic that was traveling northbound on Frederick Road.

The driver of the Honda Fit, 34-year-old Fathi Hamadi Moudoud of Reserve Champion Drive in Rockville, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic, 62-year-old Ali Reza Nassabeh was not injured in the collision.
