Detectives Investigate Fatal Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Collision; Suspect Located By Police

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision that occurred early this morning in Silver Spring. The suspect, who left the collision scene, was located by a Montgomery County Police Officer and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. No formal charges have been brought against the driver at this time. Formal charges, if any are to be brought, will be placed once the collision investigation is complete.

At approximately 2:27 am this morning, officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a pedestrian-involved collision on Colesville Road at Fenton Street. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the pedestrian, identified as Donald Morgan, Jr., age 49, of Tuckerman Street, NW in Washington, D.C., was crossing Colesville Road in an easterly direction in the area of a marked crosswalk at Fenton Street. A 2016 Honda Accord, driven by Janet Brown, age 30, of Briarwood Drive in Laurel, was traveling northbound on Colesville Road and struck the pedestrian. Witnesses observed Brown stop after the collision, exit her vehicle, and then leave the scene. Witnesses were able to provide responding officers with a description of the striking vehicle (to include the car’s tag number) and a description of the driver.

The description of the striking vehicle and driver was broadcast to officers. An officer observed the vehicle traveling northbound Georgia Avenue just south of Colesville Road and initiated a traffic stop. Brown, identified as the driver of the vehicle, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers began attempting life-saving measures on Morgan at the collision scene. He was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Hyattstown

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Hyattstown.

On Friday, March 3 at approximately 9:29 a.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Old Hundred Road (Route 109) and the on-ramp for northbound I-270 for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a yellow 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Old Hundred Road approaching the on-ramp for northbound Interstate 270.  A 2012 Silver Volkswagen Passat was making a left turn from northbound Old Hundred Road onto the on-ramp for northbound I-270. The Volkswagen and the Jeep collided in the intersection.

The front seat passenger in the Volkswagen, identified as Mary Ann Oden, age 69, of Old Hundred Road in Dickerson, was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Cynthia Leigh Oden, age 22, of Brink Road in Germantown, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Russell Paul Hutchinson, age 57, of Edgewood Road in New Market, was not injured in the collision.

Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Olney

Update: February 16, 2017 – The driver is being identified as John Ernest Cator 3rd, age 58, of Maple Ridge Court in Rockville.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred this afternoon in Olney.

Today at approximately 3:57 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to eastbound Olney Laytonsville Road (Route 108) and Olney Mill Road for the report of a single-vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a white 2007 Honda Accord was traveling east on Route 108.  For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway in the area of Olney Mill Road and struck a traffic signal control box.  The adult male driver (and sole occupant of the vehicle) was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The driver’s identity will be released once his family is notified.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Hillandale

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this evening.

On Wednesday, February 1 at approximately 5:06 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the parking lot of Cresthaven Elementary School located at 1234 Cresthaven Drive for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian who was using a walker.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a waste disposal truck was attempting to back up in the parking lot of the school when the adult male victim, identified as Collins Ellison, age 66, from the 1200 block of Cresthaven Drive in Hillandale, and who was using a walker, was struck by the truck.  Ellison succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the waste disposal truck, identified as Vincent Carruth, age 48, of the 7100 block of Smooth Path in Columbia, remained at the scene and was not injured in the collision.

Update: Wheaton Pedestrian Collision Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Wheaton on January 15.  The pedestrian, Consuelo Mary Anglarill, age 82, of Bonnywood Lane in Silver Spring, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, January 29.

On January 15 at approximately 11:49 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive for the report of a pedestrian- involved collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Kevin Arias, age 21, of the 10900 block of Amherst Avenue in Wheaton, was traveling north on Georgia Avenue.  A pedestrian, identified as Consuelo Mary Anglarill, age 82, of the 2100 block of Bonnywood Lane in Silver Spring, was crossing Georgia Avenue in a western direction at Reedie Drive when she was struck by the Impala.

Anglarill was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, to include what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the collision and whether the pedestrian was in the area of the crosswalk.
