Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in White Oak Area

Update: 10/19/2020 – The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been identified as Woyneshet Armide Ayele, age 72, of Beacon Road in Silver Spring.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early this morning in the White Oak area.

On Sunday, October 18, at approximately 1:09 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Columbia Pike and Industrial Parkway for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives determined that a 2010 Toyota Corolla was making a left turn onto southbound Columbia Pike from Industrial Parkway when it collided with a 2018 Honda Accord that was traveling north on Columbia Pike.

The driver (and sole occupant) of the Toyota Corolla, an adult female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her identity will be released once family is notified.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Marvin De Jesus Salinas Rodas, age 31, of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, and his passenger, Martin Gutierrez Cruz, age 21, of Mount Rainier, Maryland, were transported to local hospitals with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Update: Bicycle-Involved Collision in Gaithersburg Now Fatal

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal bicycle-involved collision that occurred on October 9 in Gaithersburg.

The bicyclist, previously identified as 36-year-old Jose Lopez Hernandez of Mountain Ash Way in Gaithersburg, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, October 12 at an area hospital.

Detectives Investigate Single Vehicle Double-Fatal Collision in Clarksburg Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single-vehicle, double-fatal collision that occurred late last night in the Clarksburg area.

On Saturday, October 10, at approximately 11:43 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Ridge Road (Route 27) at Morning Star Drive for the report of a serious collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on Ridge Road near Morning Star Drive.  For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep left the roadway and rolled over several times.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Dylan Bansi, age 20, of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Bansi succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The passenger in the Jeep, identified as Marryann Hardesty, age 18, of Berryville Road in Germantown, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Hit and Run Collision Involving Pedestrian in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred early this morning in Silver Spring.   

On Sunday, September 20, at approximately 12:49 a.m., officers from the 3rd District, Takoma Park Police Department officers, and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue for a pedestrian-involved collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle, possibly a lightcolored sedan, was traveling north on Carroll Avenue.  In the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue, the vehicle struck Wilmar Gomez Gonzalez, age 24, of Hyattsville, who was standing in the roadway.  After striking Gonzalez, the vehicle left the area.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives Investigate Double Fatal Collision in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a double fatal collision that occurred in Gaithersburg last night.

On Wednesday, September 9, at approximately 6:37 p.m., 6th District officers, officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Muddy Branch Road at West Deer Park Road for the report of a serious collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Toyota Supra was traveling north on Muddy Branch Road approaching West Deer Park Road.  A 2001 Honda Accord was traveling south on Muddy Branch Road and was attempting to turn left onto eastbound West Deer Park Road; the Supra and Accord collided in the intersection.  Three unoccupied vehicles parked on Water Street were also damaged as a result of this collision.  Investigators believe that the Supra’s speed may have contributed to this collision.

The driver of the Supra, identified as Stephanie Angelica Vasquez, age 25, of Plyers Mill Road in Kensington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The front-seat passenger in the Supra, identified as Jonathan Charkas, age 35, of Garden View Way in Rockville, was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

The operator of the Accord is being identified as Heriberto Santos Gonzalez, age 40, of North Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg.  He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.   Two adult male passengers in the Accord were also transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
