Update: Collision in Clarksburg Involving Motorcycle Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the now fatal, motorcycle-involved collision that occurred on Friday, August 16, on Frederick Road (MD 355) near Comus Road in Clarksburg.

The motorcyclist, identified as Jeremy Cross, age 22, of Woodside Parkway in Silver Spring, has succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision.

May 31 Pedestrian Collision in Gaithersburg Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a now-fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on May 31 in Gaithersburg. The pedestrian, identified as Michael Joseph Roberts, age 60, of the 20000 block of Dunstable Circle in Germantown, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. On July 5, Roberts succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  Recently, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) ruled that Roberts’ death was a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision.

On May 31, at approximately 9:24 p.m., 6th District officers, Gaithersburg Police Department officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue (Route 355) at Travis Lane for the report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation by officers revealed that Roberts was crossing northbound North Frederick Avenue just prior to the intersection of Travis Lane.  A 2011 Toyota RAV4 was traveling northbound on North Frederick Avenue approaching Travis Lane when for reasons still under investigation, the Toyota collided with Roberts.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as Fabiola Alejandra Perez, age 40, of the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown, was not injured in the collision.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Bicycle-Involved Collision in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal bicycle-involved collision that occurred yesterday in Bethesda.

On Wednesday, July 31, at approximately 4:52 p.m., 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Beech Avenue for the report of a serious collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the bicyclist was traveling south on the southbound sidewalk of Old Georgetown Road (approaching Beech Avenue) when he fell from the sidewalk and into the roadway.  The bicyclist was then struck by a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas that was traveling southbound Old Georgetown Road.  The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

The bicyclist, identified as Jacob Cassell, age 17,of Wyngate Drive in Bethesda, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  He succumbed to his injuries early this morning (August 1).

The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Matthew Williams, age 39, of Kentstone Drive in Bethesda, was uninjured.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773- 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Germantown

Update: (7/25/19) – The deceased driver is identified as Elmer Ault, age 86, of Ishler Street in Boalsburg, Pennyslvania.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal vehicular collision that occurred today in Germantown.

Today, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers from the 1st district and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a vehicular collision that had just occurred at the intersection of River Road and Old River Road in Germantown.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2004 Saturn Ion entered the intersection of River Road where a left turn is southbound Old River Road and a right turn is Seneca Road. Upon entering the intersection, the Saturn was struck on the driver’s side by a 2017 Ford F250 which was hauling a landscaping trailer. The facts and circumstances of the collision are still under investigation.

Officers located the adult male driver of the Saturn Ion deceased on the scene.  The identity of the victim will be released after appropriate notifications have been made.

The driver of the Ford F250 has been identified as Edwin Monroy, age 44, of Gaithersburg.  He was treated by Fire/Rescue personnel on the scene and released.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Clarksburg

The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred today in Clarksburg.

On Sunday, June 16th at approximately 1:09 pm, officers from the 5th District along with Fire & Rescue personnel, responded to a personal injury collision that had just occurred on Snowden Farm Parkway in the area of Clarksburg Square Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Mazda 3, driven by Ian Matthew McKenna, age 20, of Clarksburg, was driving west on Snowden Farm Parkway. An Audi S6, driven by Mario Orlando Sanchez, age 43, of the 22500 block of Winding Woods Way in Clarksburg, was driving east on Snowden Farm Parkway.

For reasons still under investigation, the Audi crossed the double yellow center line on Snowden Farm Parkway colliding with the Mazda in the area of Clarksburg Square Road.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, McKenna, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Audi, Sanchez, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
