Rockville Fatal Collision Investigated

Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Norbeck Road at Nadine Drive in Rockville.

On Saturday, September 16 at approximately 9:16 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded for the report of a serious personal injury collision involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle that occurred on Norbeck Road at Nadine Drive.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was traveling east on Norbeck Road, when for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle collided with a 2011 Toyota Camry that was being driven south on Nadine Drive at Norbeck Road.

The adult male motorcycle operator was gravely injured and transported to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.  He is being identified as 34-year-old Hector Ernesto Giron Lara of Laurel.  The Toyota was being driven by a 17-year-old female with a 14-year-old male passenger.  They were not injured.

Update: Identities Released – Rockville Pike Fatal Collision; Police Ask for Public’s Assistance in Locating Driver’s Family

UPDATE: September 14, 2017: A family member of Gonzales-Saravia has been located and detectives have been able to speak to the family member.  Thank you to everyone who shared the information.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a fatal collision involving a Montgomery County Ride On Bus and a sedan that occurred on Saturday, September 9.

The driver of the Ride On Bus is being identified as Donnett Marsha Lawrence, age 48, of Crabbs Branch Way in Derwood.

The driver of the Honda Accord, who succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision, is being identified as Luis Enrique Gonzales-Saravia, age 23, of an unknown address.  Detectives have been unable to locate any of Gonzales-Saravia’s family members and are asking anyone with information on possible family members of Gonzales-Saravia to please call detectives at: 240-773-6620.  Investigators are releasing a photo of Gonzales-Saravia and information that they have learned about him that might assist the public in identifying him:

  • He is believed to be from El Salvador based on documents located in his vehicle.
  • His last known residence, approximately a month ago, was on Terry Drive in Derwood, Maryland.
  • He worked for a landscaping company in Gaithersburg for the last two to three months.
  • He has possible ties to New York City based on papers located in his vehicle.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision on Rockville Pike

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision involving a Montgomery County Ride On Bus and a sedan that occurred on Saturday, September 9.

On September 9 at approximately 8:30 p.m., 1st District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the area of Rockville PIke (Maryland Route 355) at Halpine Road for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a Ride On bus was stopped for a red traffic signal on northbound Rockville Pike at Halpine Road.  For reasons still under investigation, a 1995 Honda Accord, also traveling northbound Rockville Pike, rear-ended the bus.

The driver of the Accord was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

There were three passengers on the bus at the time of the collision; the passengers and bus operator were uninjured.

The names of the drivers will be released once family notifications are complete.

Update: Identities Released – Motor Scooter/Unmarked MCP Cruiser Collision; Scooter Operator Succumbs To Injuries

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal traffic collision that occurred yesterday in Wheaton that involved a motor scooter and a Montgomery County Police (MCP) unmarked cruiser.

The 74-year old operator of the Sunra Motor Scooter is being identified as Loreto Andal Canubas of Dewey Road in Kensington.  The driver of the unmarked Montgomery County Police cruiser is being identified as Montgomery County Police Officer Robert Farmer, who has been a MCP officer for approximately eight-and-a-half years and who is currently assigned to the Police Community Action Team (PCAT).  Officer Farmer has been placed on administrative leave as is standard protocol.

Serious Bethesda Collision Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a now-fatal collision that occurred on July 19 in North Bethesda.  A 92-year-old driver injured in the July 19 collision succumbed to his injuries on July 28.

On Wednesday, July 19 at approximately 11:11 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the area of Rockledge Drive and Democracy Boulevard for the report of a collision involving three vehicles.  The preliminary investigation by 2nd District officers revealed that a 1997 Chrysler Concord had exited a parking lot located at 6410 Rockledge Drive and was attempting to turn southbound onto Rockledge Drive toward Democracy Boulevard.  For reasons still under investigation, the Chrysler struck and crossed over the concrete median and collided with a 2017 BMW 430i that was traveling northbound on Rockledge Drive.  After being struck by the Chrysler, the BMW then struck a 2001 Nissan Maxima which was parked and unoccupied on Rockledge Drive.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Eugene Levine, age 92, of the 8100 block of Inverness Ridge Road in Potomac was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  Levine succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on July 28.

The driver of the BMW, identified as Steven Marc Collen, age 55, of the 6200 block of Lilac Bush Lane in Clarksburg, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Collen has since been released from the hospital.
