Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating seven residential burglaries in the downtown area of Silver Spring that are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.
These residential burglaries occurred in the Chelsea Heights and Seven Oaks-Evanswood neighborhoods in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 22 and the night of Sunday, September 22. The suspect entered homes through unlocked windows and doors and primarily took cash. Some of the homes were occupied.

2:36 am in the 100 block of Noyes Court
Sunday, September 22
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the 100 block of Springvale Lane
9:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the 8400 block of Cedar Street
10:00 pm in the 700 block of Dartmouth Avenue
11:13 pm in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
11:30 pm (attempt burglary) in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
After 8:00 pm in the 100 block of Ellsworth Heights Street
Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking anyone with information regarding these burglaries or the suspect involved to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
Residents in the area are also asked to review home surveillance video and to contact detectives if they believe the suspect was captured on their security system.
September 30, 2019 – UPDATE: Roger Reeser has been located safe and sound.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing North Kensington man.
Roger Ray Reeser, age 54, was last seen by family at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, when he left his Spruell Drive home driving a light blue Dodge Ram pickup truck with unknown tags.
Reeser is described as a white male who is 5’ 11” tall and weighs 210 pounds. He has brown eyes and is balding.
Police and family are concerned for Reeser’s physical and emotional welfare.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred last night in the Boyds area.
On Saturday, September 28, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers from the 1st District along with MCFR personnel responded to Darnestown Road just prior to Bucklodge Road for a vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2006 Mercedes Benz E350 was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road when for unknown reasons it struck two utility poles before leaving the roadway. The adult male driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Stephen Michael Feny, age 35, of Poolesville.
This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
UPDATE: September 27, 2019 – Vernon Bernard has been located safe and unharmed.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s help to locate a man from Trinidad who has gone missing while visiting family in Montgomery County.
Vernon Bernard, age 73, was last seen at approximately 10:00 am yesterday (September 25) at a car dealership on Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring. He had accompanied a family member to the location and was last seen standing by the service center. Bernard has been staying at a residence in Gaithersburg.
Bernard is described as 5’ 06” tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and short gray hair. He has facial hair and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing black and white plaid shorts, black sandals, and a black short sleeve shirt.
Bernard is unfamiliar with the area.
