Concern for Missing Silver Spring Juvenile (LOCATED)

Roni Diggs

Update: April 2, 2019 – Roni Diggs has been located safe and unharmed.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division are asking the public for help in locating a missing Silver Spring juvenile.

Roni Diggs, age 12, of 16th Street, was last seen at approximately 10:30 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday, March 27), when she left Sligo Middle School (located at 1401 Dennis Avenue in Silver Spring) on foot.  Diggs is described as an African American female, 5″1″ tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes, and a nose ring.  Diggs was last seen wearing a blue jacket over a gray t-shirt.  The t-shirt has the words “girls can do anything” written on the front.  She was also last seen wearing black leggings and pink Nike tennis shoes.

Police and family are concerned for Diggs’ welfare.

Concern for Missing Germantown Man (LOCATED)

Rondell Henry

Update: March 28, 2019 – Rondell Henry has been located safe and unharmed.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing Germantown man.

Rondell Henry, age 28, from Honey Crisp Lane, was last seen by co-workers at approximately noon yesterday (Tuesday, March 26) when he left his place of employment in Germantown.  Family has been unable to contact him since that time.

Henry is approximately 6-foot-tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Police and family are concerned for Henry’s physical and emotional welfare.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Rondell Henry is asked to call the Montgomery County Police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000 (available 24 hours). Callers may remain anonymous.

Police Investigate Assault Following Traffic Altercation in Germantown; Surveillance Photographs of Suspect Released

Fifth District officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police continue to investigate the March 18 assault that occurred inside a Germantown grocery store.  Investigators believe that this assault may have been as a result of a traffic altercation that occurred earlier in the store’s parking lot.   Today, investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On Monday, March 18 at approximately 6:16 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Shoppers grocery store located at 18066 Mateny Road for the report of an assault that had just occurred inside the store.

The 21-year-old male victim stated to officers that he was operating his vehicle in the parking lot of the Shoppers grocery store when he was involved in a traffic altercation with the female driver of a gold Lincoln MKZ.   The victim stated that after the altercation, he parked his vehicle and entered the Shoppers grocery store. After shopping, the victim was preparing to leave the checkout area inside the store when he was confronted by the male suspect.  The suspect referred to the prior traffic altercation that had occurred, assaulted the victim and then fled the store.  Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the Shoppers and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Suspect in Germantown assault

Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Rockville Involving 3-Year Old Child

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a personal injury collision that occurred today in Rockville involving a 3-year old child.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 3:51 p.m., in the parking lot of 611 Rockville Pike, a 3-year old male child was crossing the travel portion of the parking lot when he was struck by a 2010 Ford Explorer driven by Pedro Zavala Leal, age  44, of the 6200 block of Fernwood Terrace in Riverdale, Maryland.  Leal remained on the scene of the collision.

The child has been identified as Antonio Martinez Cruz, age 3, of Rockville.  Cruz was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

All facts and circumstances regarding this incident are being investigated.  This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  If anyone witnessed the collision or has additional information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.

Detectives Investigate Theft at Music Store in Downtown Silver Spring; Surveillance Photographs of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the March 7 theft of multiple musical instrument accessories from a music store in the Central Business District of Silver Spring.   Today, investigators are releasing surveillance photographs of the female suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify her.

The investigation by detectives determined that on Thursday, March 7 the suspect entered the Guitar Center music store located inside the Ellsworth Place mall at 8661 Colesville Road and stole over $1000 worth of musical instrument accessories.   Detectives believe that this same suspect has committed similar thefts at this same store.
