The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has determined that the decedent is a Caucasian male, at least 60 years old, with an estimated height of approximately 5’07” to 5’08” tall. The OCME has estimated that the individual has been deceased for at least one year. The manner and cause of death is still under investigation. ——————————————————————————————————————–
Detectives with the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains which were found in a wooded area in Rockville.
On Tuesday, December 4, at approximately 5:15 p.m., 1st District officers responded to a wooded area near Shady Grove Road and Procera Drive for the report of discovered skeletal remains. A person found the remains while walking his dog. Upon the arrival of investigators, the skeletal remains were confirmed to be human.
The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office (OCME) in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted in an attempt to determine the sex of the person and other identifiers and the manner and cause of death for the decedent.
Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the decedent.
The following personal effects were located with the person:
- A blue sweatshirt with the words QUEBECOR PRINTING (USA) CORP. written on the front (see photograph)
- A black or green colored San Antonio Spurs ball cap (see example photograph)
- Blue and white size 11 Asics GEL-Kayano sneakers (see example photograph)
A photograph of the sweatshirt and an example of the hat and an example of the tennis shoes found with the decedent are being released to public.
This investigation is ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone who has information about the identity of this person and/or this undetermined death to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
