Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 4th District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred this evening in Wheaton.
This evening at approximately 7:00 p.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a parking garage outside of the Dick’s Sporting Goods store located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road for the report of a shooting and a related vehicle collision that had just occurred.
Responding officers located a vehicle which had struck a brick support column outside of the front of the Dick’s Sporting Goods store. Officers located an adult male front-seat passenger outside of that vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Responding officers located the adult female driver and a juvenile female passenger inside the vehicle suffering from injuries that they sustained as a result of the collision. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that the male victim was shot from outside of the vehicle on the first level of the parking garage. Detectives believe that the female driver of the vehicle struck the building while fleeing.
Detectives believe that prior to the shooting, the male victim may have been involved in two earlier disputes that occurred inside the mall with approximately six male suspects. This shooting is an ongoing investigation and detectives are working to confirm additional details. Information will be released as it becomes available.

Update: November 21, 2018 at 6:20 p.m. – Richard Scott has been located safe and unharmed.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 58-year-old Burtonsville man who has dementia.
Richard Scott was last seen leaving his Leatherwood Court home on foot at approximately 8:00 a.m. today (Wednesday, November 21). Mr. Scott is not familiar with public transportation. Family reports that Mr. Scott routinely takes walks along Columbia Pike (Route 29) into Howard County.
Mr. Scott is described as an African American male, 5’ 10” tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has salt and pepper hair, brown eyes, a mustache, a goatee, and wears glasses. Mr. Scott was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket over a light gray jacket, black sweat pants, and grey tennis shoes.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the November 18 armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in the Four Corners Area of Silver Spring. Today, investigators are releasing a surveillance photograph of the suspect and ask for the public’s help in identifying him. Detectives further believe that the same suspect committed the October 21 armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in Wheaton.
On Sunday, November 18, at approximately 10:10 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 10141 Colesville Road for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.
The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the CVS, displayed a handgun, and confronted three adult clerks who were in a back-office area. The suspect threatened the clerks and demanded cash from the business. The suspect stole currency and then fled.

Suspect who robbed a Wheaton 7-Eleven on October 21.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division and Fire Explosive Investigators from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services are conducting a death investigation following a house fire that occurred early this morning in Bethesda.
On Friday, November 21, at approximately 1:07 a.m., Fire and Rescue Services personnel and officers from the 2nd District responded to a house fire in the 4900 block of Western Avenue.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel located two individuals inside the residence and removed them from the house. The two individuals were deceased on the scene. It was determined there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
The decedents’ bodies have been transported to Baltimore where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) will conduct autopsies. The decedents will be identified once appropriate notifications have been made.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division and Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate the undetermined death of 34-year-old Dammeon Terrell Powell, who was located deceased in the roadway of Cherry Laurel Lane in Gaithersburg on November 13. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore for an autopsy. The results of the autopsy are pending.
Investigators found Powell lying in the roadway and believe that the injuries that he sustained were a result of being struck by a vehicle. Investigators have located the vehicle and the driver involved in the collision. The driver has been cooperative with officers. The driver’s name will be released once detectives have concluded this investigation and the autopsy findings are complete.
