Update: Suspect Charged in Wheaton-Glenmont Area Package Thefts – Tipster Helped Close This Case

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit have charged Tatiana Baker, age 57, of the 12900 block of Camellia Drive in the Wheaton-Glenmont area, with theft after she was observed on surveillance video in July and August stealing packages from the front door area of homes in the Wheaton-Glenmont area.

The following package thefts were reported to police:

  • July 24 at approximately 6:00 p.m. – 3900 block of Isbell Street
  • July 31 at approximately 5:24 p.m. – 3500 block of May Street
  • August 26 at approximately 4:37 p.m. – 1400 block of Billman Lane

On September 10, detectives released surveillance photographs of the suspect to the media and public and asked for help in identifying her.  Investigators received a tip which led to the identification of Baker as the suspect.

On October 3, detectives obtained a search warrant for Baker’s residence.  During the search, investigators recovered items of evidence related to these package thefts and located Baker hiding in her home.

Baker was charged with one count of theft. Bond information for Baker is not yet available.

Detectives continue to investigate these package thefts and a may file additional charges against Baker on a later date.
