Police Ask for Public’s Help to Identify Theft from Auto Suspect – Remind Residents to Lock Vehicle Doors

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 3rd District Patrol Investigations Unit continue to investigate the August 20 theft from vehicle that occurred in Woodside.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On Monday, August 20 at approximately 7:00 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to a home in the 1700 block of Leighton Wood Lane for the report of a theft from a vehicle which had just been discovered.  A review of home surveillance video showed that at approximately 5:40 a.m., the suspect approached two of the victim’s vehicles which were parked on the driveway and opened an unlocked door to one of those cars.   The suspect did not obtain any property and left the area on foot.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County. The Police Department urges all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.
