Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred this morning inside a Chevy Chase department store and was committed by seven male suspects.
Today, (July 31) at approximately 11:34 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Gucci store (which is within the Saks Fifth Avenue store) located at 5555 Wisconsin Avenue for the report of the robbery that had just occurred.
The investigation by detectives revealed that two of the suspects entered the Gucci area of the Saks Fifth Avenue store and assaulted an adult male and adult female employee. Five additional suspects then entered the store and all the suspects began stealing merchandise from display cases inside the store. The suspects stole approximately $20,000 to $30,000 worth of items and then fled from the store. The suspects were last seen leaving the area in two passenger vehicles. Both vehicles were last seen southbound on Wisconsin Avenue entering the District of Columbia.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details, to include any description of the suspects, will be released as they are confirmed.

Suspects who fired multiple gunshots in the Central Business District of Silver Spring
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 3rd District Investigative Section continue to investigate multiple gunshots that were fired during the early morning hours of June 9 in the Central Business District area of Silver Spring. No victims were reported to having been struck by the gunfire. Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the two suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
On June 9, at approximately 1:13 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue for the multiple reports of the sounds of shots. Responding officers spoke with several witnesses who stated that they had observed the two suspects, one of whom was wearing a white shirt and armed with a handgun, chasing another male on Mayor Lane toward Silver Spring Avenue. Witnesses reported that the suspect with the handgun fired multiple rounds at the other fleeing male. The suspects were last seen on foot in the area of Mayor Lane toward Thayer Avenue. Officers located two spent shell casings in the area. Officers did not locate or identify the male who was fleeing from the suspects.

The Police Department was notified by the Office of the State’s Attorney for Howard County that they had concluded their investigation of our Department’s officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 11. Based on a review of evidence and a review of the law, the Office of the State’s Attorney’s for Howard County determined that Montgomery County Police Officer Badgujar’s actions were justified under the circumstances (please see the letter from the Office of the State’s Attorney for Howard County below).
Assistant Chief Marcus Jones and Major Crimes Captain Michael Wahl are meeting with Robert White’s family members in North Carolina today (Monday, July 30).
The Department anticipates that the body-worn camera footage from Officer Badgujar and the backup officer will be released to the public later this week.
UPDATE: Willow Blackmon has been located. She is safe and unharmed. Police thank the media and residents for their assistance in publicizing this case.
Detectives from the 2nd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Bethesda woman.
Willow Blackmon, a 25-year-old female, left her Pooks Hill Road residence at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. She is described as a white female who is 6′ tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be wearing a black short sleeve shirt with a floral print design and black yoga pants. She resides in the 5200 block of Pooks Hill Road.
Willow Blackmon is believed to be operating a 2017 Ford C- MAX with Maryland temporary tag, 29251.
Police and family are concerned for her emotional and physical welfare. Anyone with information regarding Willow Blackmon’s whereabouts or the location of the Ford C-MAX, is asked to call detectives at the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240.773.6710.
Update: July 29, 2018: The decedent has been identified as a 17-year-old of Gaithersburg. The decedent’s family has been notified.
Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division detectives are investigating the undetermined death of a male. Investigators have been unable to identify the male and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.
On Friday, July 27, at approximately 2:14 p.m., officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the South Lake Elementary School (located at 18201 Contour Road in Gaithersburg) for the report of an unresponsive male laying in the parking lot. The male was declared deceased.
There were no obvious signs of trauma to the male’s body. Further investigation is necessary but at this time, foul play is not suspected in this male’s death. The male’s body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
He is described as a black male with a medium build, approximately 15 to 20 years old, and with a high top fade haircut. He was wearing black gym shorts with white and silver stripes and blue Nike Jordan sneakers. A gray t-shirt was found on the ground near him. School staff saw the male walking on school property at approximately noon on Friday. School personnel have seen the male on previous occasions playing basketball at the school.
