On Saturday, November 13, 1999, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 28-year-old Montgomery County Police Officer Robert Hunt was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 270 in the area of Middlebrook Road when a man ran to the officer and explained that his wife was having a baby in their van. Officer Hunt hopped into the couple’s van and found that the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby boy’s neck. Officer Hunt removed the cord from the baby, cleared his airway, and the baby began to breathe. An ambulance arrived and mother and baby were transported to the hospital. The boy was given the name Thomas Robert DuBoyce. (Officer Hunt’s first name was chosen as the boy’s middle name).
Over the years, Officer Hunt and the DuBoyce family stayed in contact. Today, Officer Hunt, a now 24-year veteran of the Police Department, attended the Oakdale High School graduation of now 18-year-old Thomas DuBoyce. Congratulations to the graduate!
