Detectives with the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a death in Burtonsville as a homicide.
On Tuesday, August 23, at approximately 10:23 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 4500 block of Sandy Spring Road (Route 198) for the report of an assault. Inside the home, first responders located a male in his early 20s. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, investigators are interviewing witnesses and cannot confirm the motive or circumstances surrounding this shooting but believe that the victim and suspect(s) may have been known to each other.
