This evening at the Public Safety Academy (9710 Great Seneca Highway in Rockville), the 16 members of the first Community Police Academy for Spanish-Speaking Residents will graduate. Chief Manger will offer welcoming remarks to the participants and the participants’ family and friends.
The purpose of the Community Police Academy is to increase resident awareness and understanding of the function of the police department. During the 15-week academy, the class was instructed on such topics as criminal law, Maryland traffic law, and investigations. Participants were required to attend 12 of the 15 classes to be eligible for graduation.
The Police Department plans on holding additional Community Police Academies for Spanish-Speaking Residents.
