Detectives Ask For Public’s Assistance in Locating Missing Germantown Woman

F-RiveraDetectives from the Montgomery County Police – 5th and 6th District Investigative Sections are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman missing from Germantown.

Fanny Rivera, age 60, of the 20800 block of Tall Forest Drive in Germantown, was last seen leaving her residence on Saturday, December 28 at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Ms. Rivera is described as a white Hispanic female, 5’5″ tall and weighing 140 pounds.  She left her home on foot and was wearing a red turtleneck under a black fleece jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers, and a black hat.

Police and family members are concerned for her welfare.  Ms. Rivera suffers from aphasia which affects her ability to communicate even if offered help.  She frequents the Milestone Shopping Center and regularly attends services at Mother Seton Church in Germantown.

Anyone who has seen Ms. Rivera, or has information about her whereabouts, is asked to call Montgomery County Police at 301-279-8000.

Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Rockville

LightBar2012Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this afternoon in Rockville.

On Saturday, December 28 at 2:21 p.m., 1st District officers and Rockville City officers responded to Maryland Avenue and Great Falls Road for a personal injury collision.  Upon arrival, officers located a gray 2004 Toyota Corolla and a silver 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada involved in a side-impact collision within the intersection.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Oldsmobile was traveling eastbound on Maryland Avenue with a green traffic signal.  The Toyota was traveling westbound on Maryland Avenue attempting to turn left onto Potomac Valley Road with a green traffic signal.  As the Toyota was making the left turn, the Oldsmobile struck the Toyota on the passenger side.

The front passenger in the Toyota, identified as Irwin Percival Bellamy, age 89, of Kensington, Maryland was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Toyota was the victim’s son, David Alan Bellamy, age 53, of Hanover, Maryland.  David Bellamy was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, Rachel Miller Dawson, age 73, of Potomac, Maryland was not injured and remained on the scene.

Police Investigate Fatal Collision on Old Columbia Pike

LightBar2012Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Old Columbia Pike early this morning.

On December 28 at 2:40 a.m., 3rd District patrol officers responded to a collision in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. Upon arrival, officers observed a red 2003 Infiniti G35 and a gray 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe involved in a head-on collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Old Columbia Pike.  The Infiniti was traveling northbound on Old Columbia Pike and crossed the center line into the southbound traffic.  The Infiniti and Chevrolet collided head-on in the southbound lanes.

The front passenger of the Infiniti was pronounced deceased at the scene.  He is identified as Oscar Alexander Orellana, age 18, of the 2400 block of Sheraton Street in Wheaton.

The driver of the Infiniti and a rear passenger were both transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Infiniti is identified as Cristian Omar Vargas, age 19, of the 3100 block of Medway Street in Wheaton.  The rear passenger is identified as Kyle Robinson, age 23, the 10700 block of Shaftsbury Street in Kensington.

The driver of the Tahoe is identified as Edwin Alexander Rivera, age 25, of the 8100 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.  He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking at whether alcohol and seat belt usage may have been factors but the circumstances of this collision remain under investigation.   No charges have been placed at this time.  Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.  Callers may remain anonymous.

Detectives Ask for Public’s Assistance in Locating Missing Silver Spring Man

navarreteDetectives from the Montgomery County Police 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing Silver Spring man.

Edwin Alexander Navarrete, age 19, of the 9400 block of Avenel Road in Silver Spring, was last seen at his residence on Thursday, December 26 at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Mr. Navarrete is described as a Hispanic male, 6’2” tall and weighing 240 pounds.  He has dark hair and was last seen wearing a black tee shirt and black sweatpants.

Police and family members are concerned for his welfare because Mr. Navarrete suffers from a mental disorder and is not taking his prescribed medication.
