Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division–Robbery Section are investigating a bank robbery that occurred yesterday in the Colesville area of Silver Spring. Detectives are releasing a surveillance photograph of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Yesterday at approximately 5:30 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the Capital One bank located at 13301 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring for the report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and approached the teller counter. The suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money and implying that he had a knife (no weapon was seen). After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller, the suspect fled from the bank on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, approximately 5’10 to 6′ tall, and weighing approximately 160 to 175 pounds. The bank’s surveillance system was able to capture the suspect on camera.
