Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating a bank robbery that occurred today in Rockville.
Today, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Rockville City officers and Montgomery County 1st District officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 4 Courthouse Square in Rockville for the report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and immediately vaulted the teller counter. The suspect announced the robbery and ordered the tellers to open the teller drawers. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller drawers, the suspect vaulted the teller counter and fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall, with a heavy build. The suspect was wearing a baseball cap, gloves, and what appeared to be a Washington Redskins jacket. The suspect also wore a stocking over his face. The bank’s surveillance system was able to capture the suspect on camera.
